A primer: I don’t like metal/hard/emo/sXe/christ/core-type stuff. This wasn’t bad though. Sounds kind of like if you mixed As I Lay Dying, with Lagwagon or Propaghandi, (minus the politics,) and leavened the mix with Justin Bieber, or something.
These guys are on Epitaph, so the CD audio quality was good; living up to my high fidelity expectations. A good clear mix that is then muddied up by the musicians involved, in my opinion. You can expect lots of crunchy guitars, predictably juxtaposed with the growly singer/emo singer dynamic. Breakdowns, and so forth.
Don’t worry, they all have good haircuts, you can see it on the back of the paper CD sleeve. I did like the album artwork though. It looks like an intricate series of veins, and arteries, shaped into a tree. Very nice looking. Like most art, however, it does little to conceal the less than artistic music contained therein.
Going further with the art analogy, this CD is like looking at a print, or reproduction of an actual famous artist. Very faithfully done, it just doesn’t capture the essence of the original. What trend ever does?
